Dalegarth from Hardknott

The British Long Distance Championship is open to National Members of the British Orienteering Federation and to members of overseas IOF affiliated Federations. Runners not eligible under these criteria shall not be allowed to take part. Awards will only be given to National BOF members who are also British Citizens.

British Long Distance Championships will feature in the UK Masters Cup, competitors should enter the age-class in which they want to score points.

Entry Dates, Fees & Details

The cost of both the parking and bus transport to the assembly area at Dalegarth is included in your entry fee at £4 per person.

Colour coded courses can only be entered on the day.

SI cards are available to hire for the event, via the entry system, and will be charged at £1.

Start Times

Between 11am and 3pm competitors will be offered a choice of 4 start blocks, each an hour long. These will be Early, early Middle, late Middle and Late. Within these blocks runners will be allocated fixed timed starts. Every effort will be made to accommodate requests.

Entry Changes and Cancellation

After April 15th changes can only be made by contacting the Entries Secretary, and a charge of £5 per competitor will be made. This will also apply to changes made at the event itself.

Cancellations

Via the Entries Secretary only. For entry cancellations up to the middle closing date of March 18th 2012, a refund of 90% of the entry fee will be given.

For entries cancelled in the period between March 19th and April 15th 2012, a refund of 75% will be given.

No refunds will be given after April 15th.

Should all or part of the event be cancelled, the Organisers reserve the right to retain all or part of the entry fee to cover committed costs.

Late Entries

After April 15th, there is no late entry for elite classes.

For other classes there is the possibility of entry, subject to the very limited availability of maps and start slots.

Other Entry Information

Colour Coded courses

White, Yellow and Orange courses will be available for entry on the day.  These range in difficulty, progressing from both physically and technically very easy (white) to more difficult (orange).  

Warm Up Day, Friday 4th May

Warm up maps will be available for purchase in advance on the entries website.  Maps will be available for collection at registration on the warm up day.

A limited number of maps will be available on the day at a cost of £5 each.

Hard copies of the programme may be sent to competitors at a cost of £4.  This should be requested via the online entry form.

Results can also be ordered via the entry system.

Parking, Transport and Travel

Competitors on Saturday 5th May will park at Ravenglass village (GR 089 967) and be transported to the assembly area at Dalegarth by bus.

The cost of parking and bus transport to the assembly area at Dalegarth is included in your entry fee at £4 per person.

Please note that dogs will not be permitted to travel on the buses to Dalegarth and dog owners will be required to make alternative arrangements for them on this day.

Merchandise

Event merchandise will be available for pre-order and an email, via the SI system notifying competitors of this will be sent closer to the event.

Safety

Competitors are reminded that orienteering is an adventure sport and that they take part at their own risk. Competitors should bring waterproof jackets in case they are made compulsory. Whistles may also be compulsory.
